Winter holiday style
Interested in adding a seasonal touch for your winter wedding or event? Use of greenery, textures and the choice of color palette are all a great way to bring the winter season to your bouquets and floral arrangements.
To create a winter holiday look, begin with winter seasonal foliages. Cedar, pine, spruce and other winter greenery make a great arrangement base this time of year. Next, add winter textures such as berries, twigs, pods and other accents for depth and detail. Additionally, consider your floral color palette when connecting to the season. Beyond the traditional red, white and green, consider palettes such as: burgundy and cream, white and icy silver, deep reds, whites and greens, and rich jewel tones. Need some ideas? Check out our website to see our seasonal creations.
Whether you are ready to create your own combinations or prefer to have us create something unique for you, contact us at either location or online. We’re ready to bring a little winter to you!

Cascading bridal bouquet
Wedding season is still going strong at Sammy’s Flowers. We recently created this gorgeous cascading style bridal bouquet in elegant whites and creams. The cascading style bouquet, with its elongated front drape, was once considered a vintage look. Thankfully, cascading florals have gained popularity again and is a frequent choice among brides seeking a more dramatic style bouquet. This one includes oriental lilies, calla lilies, lisianthus, roses and orchids.

In the Mix: succulents
Succulents have been a popular floral trend for quite some time now. Both the adorable small mix shown above and the wedding bouquet below are made with garden roses, seasonal accents and a beautiful purple echeveria succulent rosettes. In bouquets, succulents tend to be a little tricky to work with since they are heavy and require the creation of support stems. In a short vase, however, no wiring is required to add them to the mix, just some careful placement will do.

Wedding style: your bouquet
We are so excited that wedding season has begun at Sammy’s! Are you a bride to be and wondering where to start? Here’s a few things to consider when thinking about your wedding bouquet style.
Size: Standard bridal bouquets are typically around 10" wide. Petite bridal bouquets are 6-8" wide and large bridals are 12"+. These are general guidelines, though, as the product chosen can influence the size of your bouquet.
Shape: There are many options here. But the most popular shapes continue to be: round, naturally round, organic hand-tied, and loose/unstructured.
Color: While many brides chose classic whites and creams, anything really goes when it comes to your bouquet. Popular, less traditional palettes this year have included pops of burgundy, plums and lavender.
Texture: Do you like lots of detail or do you prefer a simplified look? Texture added with elements such as pods, berries, foliages and succulents create dimension and movement in your bouquet.
The picture above shows a bridal and bridesmaid bouquet. The bridal bouquet is standard sized, naturally rounded with texture, in a soft spring color palette. To see more bouquets click here.

Wedding style: organic shaped bouquets
Loose, organic shaped bouquets are less formal than traditional rounded bouquets, but remain naturally elegant. Both the bridal and bridesmaid bouquets shown here have an elongated front drape and whispy, flowing accents. Fragrant blooms were used in these mixes and included sweet peas, gardenias, garden roses, tuberose, and scented herbs.

Wedding style: Juliette garden rose
The lovely Juliette rose continues to be a favorite for our brides. This garden rose has a perfect cabbage shape and is the just right shade of soft peach. It pairs so well (as shown here) with the creamy Vendela rose and the alluring peach Finesse rose. Rounding out the mix is hydrangea, silver brunnia and dusty miller.

The first bouquet shown combines rich reds, copper and burgundy, with accents of peach. The second picture shows bridal and bridesmaid bouquets in deep eggplant and blue gray. The third example below is combination of silver, plum, burgundy and cream.
